See Bloomers on Brunswick Biz!
You might say that Mandee Williams, the sweet and lively owner of Bloomers, has flowers in her blood! Back in 1961, Mandee’s grandmother started the family’s floral business, perhaps not realizing what a dynasty she was creating. When Mandee was a little girl, her parents often helped her grandmother with the business, particularly during the busy times of the year such as Valentine’s Day. Mandee probably didn’t realize as she was playing among the flowers that she would someday be the chief custodian of the family business! When Mandee’s grandmother was ready to retire, Mandee’s aunt took over the business, running it successfully for over thirty years. The business was then passed down to Mandee’s cousin, who continued to grow the business for another 25 years. Meanwhile, Mandee was growing up, going off to college and starting her own career, not realizing that she was actually preparing herself to start her own business one day. After a comprehensive internship during college at Walt Disney World, Mandee graduated from Western Carolina University with a degree in Hospitality and Tourism. She obtained a position at The Old Edwards Inn and Spa (OEI) in Highlands, NC as their Special Events and Activities Manager. Mandee gained valuable experience there planning and executing elaborate high-end events, managing all aspects of media and marketing as well as planning activities for the guests. During her college years and maintaining her job at OEI she owned her own business for 9 years. The business was called “Tis the Season” where she did seasonal decorating for individuals and businesses. After that she decided to make a change and took the opportunity to become Marketing Manager for Myrtle Beach Seaside Resorts where she further honed her marketing, negotiating and budgetary skills. After five years well spent at Myrtle Beach Seaside Resorts, Mandee became the Director of Events & Programs for the Brunswick County Chamber of Commerce where she capitalized on her experience and further developed her repertoire of skills. She planned and managed all events sponsored by the Chamber including the North Carolina Oyster Festival. She even produced and hosted a national award winning television show, “Nosin’ around with Mandee and Tony” promoting members of the Chamber. But then, lo and behold, in 2015 the floral business surfaced in Mandee’s mind and she decided to open Bloomers to carry on the family tradition for another generation. It is her honor and pleasure to serve the southern Brunswick County community for all of their floral and decorative needs.
